Terms

Daybook is a personal planner made and run by one person. These are the terms you agree to by making an account. They are written to be read, and the short version is this: what you enter is yours, the free plan is free for as long as you like, a paid plan can be refunded within fourteen days of any charge, and ending a plan never deletes anything.
Your account
- One account per person, under an email address you can receive mail at. Nothing works until that address is confirmed.
- Your password and passkeys are yours to keep. Anything done from your account is taken to be done by you until you tell us otherwise.
- You must be at least thirteen. Daybook is not directed at children and does not knowingly keep an account for one.
What you enter
Everything you put into Daybook stays yours. Daybook has only the licence it needs to store it, show it back to you, send you the reminders you ask for, and show a shared section to the people you share it with. Nothing you enter is used for anything else, and the privacy notice says what is kept and who else handles it.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Daybook is a planner, not a system of record: you can download everything it holds for you at any time under Account, then Personal data, and you should, now and then.
What you may not do
Use Daybook to break the law, to harm or harass anyone, to store material you have no right to, or to interfere with the service or other people's accounts. Do not probe, scrape or overload it, or try to get at data that is not yours. An account used for any of these can be closed without notice.
The plans
- Free. Free for as long as you want it, with no time limit and no card.
- Pro. Paid, either as a subscription billed monthly or yearly, or once, for lifetime access. Every new account starts with a fourteen-day Pro trial, no card required; when it ends the account goes to the free plan on its own, and nothing you entered is lost.
What Pro includes, and what each plan costs, is set out on the pricing page, on the Plan page under Account, and at checkout. Prices can change, but a change never touches a period you have already paid for, and you will be told by email before a subscription renews at a new price.
Lifetime means for the life of the product: for as long as Daybook is offered, with no renewal and no further charge. If Daybook is ever shut down, lifetime and subscription holders alike get at least sixty days' notice and the export page stays open until the end.
Paying and renewing
- Payments are taken by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), acting as the merchant of record: you buy from Paddle, and Paddle sells you access to Daybook. Your card details go to Paddle and never to Daybook; Paddle's receipt is your receipt, and any tax it adds is set by where you are.
- A subscription renews on its own at the end of each period until you cancel it. Cancel at any time, from the Plan page or the processor's portal; Pro then runs to the end of the period already paid for and the account goes to the free plan.
- A charge that fails is retried; if it keeps failing, the account goes to the free plan, and nothing is deleted.
Refunds
Write within fourteen days of any charge, a first purchase or a renewal, and it is refunded in full, no reason needed. After fourteen days a charge is not refunded, but cancelling stops the next one. A refund ends Pro at once and returns the account to the free plan.
A purchase made through Apple's App Store, if the app ever sells one, is refunded by Apple under its own rules, not by Daybook.
When a plan ends
Whatever the reason, the account goes to the free plan and nothing you entered is deleted. Anything that belongs to Pro stops until Pro starts again. You can delete the account yourself, at any time, and that removes everything.
The service
Daybook is offered as it is, and it is made by one person. It may be unavailable now and then, and features may change or be retired. Reasonable care is taken to keep it up and to keep what you enter safe, but no promise is made that it will always be available or free of faults.
To the extent the law allows, Daybook is not liable for indirect losses or for anything lost because a copy was not kept, and its total liability to you for anything arising from these terms is limited to what you paid for Daybook in the twelve months before the claim, or, on the free plan, to nothing. Nothing here limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting your account, on the web under Account, then Personal data, or in the iPhone app under Settings. Daybook can close an account that breaks these terms, and will otherwise give at least sixty days' notice before ending the service.
Changes
When these terms change, the revised date at the top moves. A change that affects what you pay or what you get is emailed to the address on the account before it takes effect. The current copy is always at this address.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of the United States and of the state where Daybook's maker lives, and any dispute is brought in the courts there. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands.
